The purpose of the current study is to understand the role of internal audit in risk management in the insurance industry with the perspective of sustainability development. There are previous studies explaining the role of internal audit in risk management. This study is the first of its kind with respect to understanding the role of internal audit in risk management in the insurance industry taking the case of the General Insurance Industry in India. The current study was conducted using a descriptive analytical method. The study describes the issues and necessary information related to the role of internal audit in risk management in insurance by collecting data from previous studies and literature. The main findings of study include the role and function of internal auditor, types of risk in insurance, role of internal audit in risk management and understanding the role with the help of case study of General Insurance Companies. The current study can be referred to by academicians, risk management department, internal audit officers, senior management, and board of directors of insurance industry people and policy makers. The study encourages companies and academicians to further investigate internal audit in risk management." @default.
