- W4384346280 abstract "With regard to socio-economic and ecological problems, attempts have also been made to valorise wastes in order to boost agricultural productivity through the production of value-added products. Lignocellulosic pollution is one of the most burning curses to the ecosystem, and paper-pulp mill industries play a pivotal role in the release of such organic contaminants. Based on the synergistic action of earthworms and associated microbes, vermicomposting is one of the most successful technologies of solid waste management because it plays a crucial, fruitful and effective role in the valorisation of organic wastes. Through the interaction of different enzymes, valorisation or biodegradation involves the breakdown of complex substances into simpler ones. This study used API-ZYM TM technology to screen different extracellular enzymes (19 enzymes) categorised as glucosidase, aminopeptidase, lipase, esterase, etc., to elucidate the role of extracellular enzymes in the lignocellulosic biodegradation of solid organic paper mill wastes. The study has delineated the succession of diverse microbial groups (using PLFA biomarkers) and outlined their sensitivity towards the release of extracellular enzymes as a major facilitator of lignocellulosic biodegradation." @default.
