- W4384346419 abstract "The presence of newly identified or developing contaminants in our water resources continues to be a source of concern for public health and safety. Personal and pharmaceutical care items (PPCPs), surfactants, different industrial additives, and various compounds alleged to be endocrine disruptors are among the endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). These are now creating a risk to our water supply. The existing contaminated water treatment process is inefficient in the removal of such various types of rising pollutants since they have not been controlled due to a lack of strong regulations related to such pollutants. These undesired substances are discharged into the aquatic environment, willingly or unwittingly, and have a significant impact on the entire living body. This chapter illustrates the types and environmental effects of PPCPs and EDCs, treatment technology, and their merit and demerit. Especially, advanced treatment technologies include nanofiltration technology, membrane bioreactor (MBR), and MBR-based hybrid process in organics and emerging contaminants elimination, which have also been emphasized elaborately in this chapter." @default.
