- W4384376575 abstract "The article describes the influence of historical information on the Crusades in Western European literature in the XVII-XVIII centuries, in particular in French literature, on the works of German writers. It is thought that the images of the Crusades were interpreted as oriental motifs of tolerance and humanism. In German literature, it is especially acknowledged that the ideas of humanity and tolerance were able to illuminate not only the love, respect, and generosity between peoples, but also the Christian atmosphere among enemies and foes. The author emphasizes that through historical sources, more humanity, tolerance, peace and harmony between East and West are interpreted. The main idea in the works of the enlighteners of this period was to strengthen the bonds of mutual understanding and harmony between Muslims and Christians and to stabilize the relations between the West and the East. German enlightener Gotthold Ephraim Lessing portrays Jews, Christians, and Muslims in their dramas as partners, not rivals. In this way, the author finds a solution to the political, economic, social and cultural issues facing the present and the future, and contributes to the wider promotion of inter-religious and intercultural tolerance and humanism in the world." @default.
