- W4384807029 abstract "Most seniors prefer to stay in their homes. Some seniors, however, make residential moves. Moving and staying have been viewed as mutually exclusive and a senior has been viewed as either a residential mover or a stayer without acknowledging that an older person may move and stay at the same time. Similarly, permanent moves and seasonal moves have been treated as separate phenomena but increasingly seasonal moves have an element of permanence, especially when they involve second homes. In short, migration has been conceptualized as dichotomies (stay or move, permanent or temporary, return or amenity, independent or supportive) when it is often the case that residential location involves staying and moving, permanence and temporariness, return and amenity, independence and support. This chapter explores the residential mobility of older persons who are increasingly both movers and stayers and who maintain two or more residences and circulate seasonally." @default.
