- W4384833977 abstract "Present study was aimed to evaluate the effect of various chelating irrigants on the micro-hardness of the root canal dentin. A total of 30 extracted mandibular premolars with single canals were selected and decoronated. Samples were randomly divided into 3 groups, according to the chelating irrigants used: Group 1: EDTA 17%, Group 2: Citric Acid (CA) 10%, Group 3: Silver Citrate Solution. Then mid root portion of teeth were longitudinally sectioned into segments and then embedded in an auto-polymerizing acrylic resin. Vickers microhardness values were measured before and after treatment with 5ml of chelating agent for 1 minute. Data were analyzed using One-way ANOVA and Student paired t-tests. On comparing: Silver Citrate (group 3) showed signicantly higher mean micro hardness as compared to EDTA 17% (group 1) and Citric Acid 10% (group 2) at p=0.004 & p=0.01 respectively. And on comparing micro hardness before and after treatment with chelating agents showed signicantly lesser values than baseline values which was statistically signicant at p<0.001. All groups showed reduction in dentin microhardness.17% EDTA and 10% Citric acid has shown maximum reduction in dentin micro hardness. And the least reduction in dentin micro hardness was seen with silver citrate solution." @default.
