- W4384944726 abstract "In this chapter, the author examines three aspects of Ludwig Wittgenstein's views on being self-educated about God through his life experiences and suffering, using as a point of departure what he said in 1950, a year before his death. The three aspects which educated Wittgenstein about God are, firstly, his general acquaintance with and growing interest in religion possibly from 1912 onwards. The second aspect concerns the effect that his study of religion had personally on him, an example of which is his remarkable and devotional passage written in 1938 where he seeks faith in the Resurrection as the means of changing his life. Finally, there is the difficulty of precisely pinning down Wittgenstein's position with regard to religion and faith. This is partly due to the fact that his views about religion predictably developed over time." @default.
