- W4385154054 abstract "Antibiotics are widely employed worldwide to cure, protect, and promote development in human and veterinary diseases and in the agriculture industry. The exploitation of veterinary antibiotics is primordial in the animal-rearing industries, ensuring their health and well-being. However, the use of subcurative doses accumulates residues in food, inducing the development of recalcitrant bacteria. These residues cause threats to food security and have gradually become a universal health concern. Their presence in all food products represents socioeconomic threats in both the national and international markets. The principal health implications are the establishment of drug recalcitrance, allergies, carcinogenic effects, mutagenic effects, teratogenic effects, connective tissue destruction, and disturbance of the normal intestinal flora. This chapter will elaborate the implications of antibiotic residues in fish farming, agricultural and animal products on human health and security. Conclusion: The conscious use of antibiotics in fish farming, agriculture, and animal rearing requires veterinary or human supervision to provide security for all food products. Therefore, practicing healthy animal rearing with the exploitation of substitutes for antibiotics such as probiotics, bacteriophage therapy, plant extracts, essential oils, and organic matter composts is necessary to reduce the presence of these residues in food and consequently food security." @default.
