- W4385194969 abstract "Donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI) includes administering lymphocytes to the host for therapeutic purposes. It is commonly used in the management of hematologic malignancies that relapse after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo SCT). It can also be used as a prophylaxis for high-risk malignancies after allo SCT. It can eradicate minimal residual disease or be used to rescue a hematologic relapse by mediating the graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effect. DLI causes an immune response which can convert the mixed chimerism to complete donor chimerism. A DLI is easier to collect than stem cells, growth factors are not needed as high levels of lymphocytes are always present in the blood and can be easily collected. If the patient has already experienced graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) then DLI is less likely to work. DLI itself can increase the risk of GVHD. To decrease the risk of GVHD and to achieve the desired response of DLI a dose-escalation DLI strategy has been used where initially low doses of DLI are given and subsequently the doses are increased." @default.
