- W4385268977 abstract "The environmental, social and economic performance, that determine sustainability performance, is a mega-trend which companies need to adapt to remain competitive, inserting it effectively into their strategic agenda. For this, there are several examples of environmental initiatives that can be adopted, and studies have been showing that sustainability can be more than a cost, but a profitable investment. This study aims to identify the relationships between the adoption of environmental practices and the performance results of manufacturing companies. The first phase of the research is a Systematic Review of Literature with bibliometric and social network analysis to map the field of sustainability research in the domain of operations management discipline. It was observed that this area of study has been maturing, but there is still opportunity for exploratory and descriptive studies. Subsequently, a content analysis of a sample of 31 papers is realized, resulting in a conceptual framework that relates environmental practices to performance results, which is the basis for the hypotheses formulation. Finally, the statistical analysis of the 4th round data of the High Performance Manufacturing Project is done. This phase is divided into three studies: structural equation modeling; simple regression; and multiple regression, the latter just for exploratory purposes. For instance, there was a significant direct positive relationship between financial performance ~ environmental management system and market performance ~ green operational practices. The presence of two quadratic relations is also observed, these being between cost ~ environmental supply chain management and quality ~ green operational practices. In the multiple regression analysis, both linear and quadratic relations, positive and negative, are obtained. This study concludes that the relationships between environmental practices and performance can be positive and negative at first, as well as not linear, and more studies are required in order to justify the mapped relationships." @default.
