- W4385268997 abstract "Industry 4.0 (I4.0) is associated with achieving Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) in production. They are the merge of electric and electronic systems, or the “cyber” realm of information data, with “physical” components and allow the digital interaction of the physical world by creating a virtual copy of it. This cyber counterpart can also be associated with another concept, the digital twin (DT), responsible for opening the possibility for systems to assume a range of transformative technologies, managing interconnected computational and physical capabilities. Those domains are all concerned with the same objective, which is to retrieve, consume, and exert data towards a better process performance. That way, it is interesting to understand them in relation to Interoperability i.e., the ability for systems or components to exchange and use information. This is relevant because autonomous and intelligent systems will require more quality and speed to understand and use data, impacting industrial processes. The recent high heterogeneity of systems and data suggests enterprise interoperability (EI) requirements to be explored. That way, addressing the EI as a lens, this article provides a review of the I4.0, CPS, and DT domains of literature. After this literature review, EI assessment is carried out in digital transformation projects within those domains. For that, an automobile World Class Manufacturer served as a source for three case studies. The results reveal common ground between literature and real industrial cases of interoperability assessment, extolling its relevance as an insightful tool to analyze projects related to manufacturing’s digital transformation." @default.
