- W4385355164 abstract "Nanotechnology is evolving as a flourishing field, displaying promising utilities in various medical, industrial, electrical and other useful sectors. Metal nanoforms have been found to be more efficient, as compared to their bulky counterparts, by virtue of certain key optical, chemical and physical properties. An array of techniques has been employed for nanoparticle synthesis, in order to increase their applicable spectrum. Currently, mycosynthesis (fungal mediated synthesis) of nanoparticles has been widely propagated as a green technique to promote sustainable agricultural practices. Fungus-generated nanoparticles are almost non-toxic and quite eco-friendly in terms of their applications. A series of fungal genera have been reported to play crucial role in metal nanoparticle synthesis, out of which Fusarium and Aspergillus have revealed their enormous utility in the synthesis of a range of metal nanoparticles, particularly gold and titanium. Fungus-generated nanoparticles have a potent role in the production of certain nanopesticides and nanofertilizers, thereby propagating eco-friendly and sustainable agriculture. In addition, mycosynthesized metal nanoforms (for instance, titanium oxide and gold nanoparticles) have been reported to serve as key mediators of plant defence and disease control, due to good anti-microbial properties. Moreover, these nanoparticles also have other important agricultural applications, including plant growth stimulation, nanobiosensors, anti-oxidative properties, delivery agents of certain pesticide and fertilizer sensors, etc. In this chapter, the latest innovations and advancements in the myco-production of gold and titanium nanoparticles, along with their potential applications in the agricultural sectors, in order to establish global crop improvement and food security, have been addressed." @default.
