- W4385466861 abstract "China has experienced rapid economic development since 1978, whereas the subjective well-being of the Chinese residents has been stable but not high. A large body of research has explored the factors affecting subjective well-being in China to solve the puzzle. These studies mainly focused on two kinds of factors: one is individual characters; the other is the macroeconomic and structural factors. Several theoretical expiations are discussed in the literature, such as Easterlin Paradox, post-materialism proposition, judgment model of well-being, “winner’s curse” and the like. Besides, the measurement of subjective well-being has been discussed in the past and formed common and simplified operationalizations in recent empirical research. These studies help to better understand subjective well-being in contemporary China and is beneficial to form a balanced and more equal social structure with a sustainable economic development, which is of great essence for a better China with a much higher well-being." @default.
