- W4385587614 abstract "Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, and the improvement of quality of life and rehabilitation outcomes is a topic of interest for many researchers. To help in the rehabilitation process, several robotic devices are being developed. Robot-assisted gait training is extensively studied as a rehabilitation source for improving mobility and quality of life outcomes following a stroke. Assessments of gait rehabilitation after stroke indicated that electromechanically assisted gait training combined with physiotherapy provides better rehabilitation outcomes than gait training using only conventional physiotherapy, although the role of the type of device is still not clear. Thus, this chapter presents a review of the main equipment under development applied to the rehabilitation of human gait, followed by a safety analysis of these devices, a brief review of control techniques used, and a discussion of the open challenges and directions in the rehabilitation of human gait." @default.
