- W4385608839 abstract "The variance-based sensitivity analysis method is a global approach where it is currently in the interest of many researchers. This method can solve many weaknesses that limit the current industry standard one-parameter-at-a-time sensitivity analysis method. The main objective of this paper is to compare the efficiency between the variance-based sensitivity analysis and one-parameter-at-a-time for the assisted history matching. It has proved that the variance-based sensitivity analysis significantly improves the history matching error. However, the computational time for variance-based sensitivity analysis is higher compared to one-parameter-at-a-time. The variance-based sensitivity analysis starts with generating sampling sets using the quasi-Monte Carlo. The quasi-Monte Carlo, such as the Sobol sequence, has a low-discrepancy sequence that is more uniformly distributed to achieve better accuracy. Variance-based sensitivity analysis is carried out after the sampling sets are run through the objective functions. Variance-based sensitivity analysis calculates the first-order, second-order, and total-order sensitivity indices for respective objective functions. Then, these sensitivity indices are used to rank the input parameters according to the efficiency of respective input parameters on assisted history matching. The top four efficient parameters are used and simultaneously observed the error reduction in history matching. Based on this study, the variance-based sensitivity analysis gives a solution closer to the exact solution, and consequently improves the assisted history matching process. Therefore, practicing engineers can utilize this method to improve the history matching error and accuracy of the history matching parameters ranking if the computational resources permit." @default.
