This natural endowment is rapidly dwindling, and crude oil stocks are only adequate for the next 50 years. On the other side, waste tires accumulate in every corner of the world today, posing a problem for waste management. Using waste tires would have a minimal environmental impact while protecting natural resources to the greatest. Thus a combination of thermochemical conversion processes such as pyrolysis, gasification and liquefication provide an alternative to the world’s heavy reliance on crude oil. This chapter thoroughly explains these processes can provide energy, fuel, and high-end value-added products. The current obstacles and future prospects of converting waste tires into renewable fuel are also discussed and summarized." @default.
