- W4385806688 abstract "Many studies have investigated the self-assembly capabilities of diblock copolypeptide amphiphiles, with a specific focus on their potential to form various nanostructures. In addition, significant attention has been drawn to the integration and alignment of spin transition complexes with such amphiphiles, driven by the potential of these materials to exhibit molecular spintronics. Building upon these concepts, the present work explores the construction of supramolecular hybrids involving a cyanide-bridged Fe-Co molecular square complex and diblock copolypeptide amphiphiles in aqueous solutions. Specifically, the crystalline [Co2Fe2(CN)6(tp*)2(dtbbpy)4]2+ complex (tp* = hydrotris(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)borate and dtbbpy = 4,4′-di-tert-butyl-2,2′-bipyridine) has been previously reported to exhibit a two-step electron-transfer-coupled spin transition phenomenon. The integration of such spin transition complexes with diblock copolypeptide amphiphiles in aqueous environments holds promising potential for the development of advanced materials in molecular spintronics, and this study aims to shed light on the supramolecular characteristics and behavior of these intriguing hybrid systems. In this study, the addition of poly-(l-aspartate)-block-(l-leucine) amphiphiles to solutions of this complex induced the formation of supramolecular assemblies such as nanosheets, resulting in controllable two-step spin crossover originating from tetranuclear complexes undergoing intermolecular interactions. Characterizations using electron microscopy and spectroscopic techniques confirmed the formation of nanosheets with weave patterns several nanometers in size that grew to form advanced nanosheet architectures, including sheeted backbone structures having β-sheet conformations. This concept of combining diblock copolypeptide amphiphiles with a discrete spin crossover complex is expected to allow the design of flexible, functional supramolecular hybrid spin systems in water." @default.
