- W4385852310 abstract "ABSTRACTSmart tourism with the Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled technologies is the future of global tourism. This study examines smart tourism adoption based on trust and risk theories integrated with the technology adoption model (TAM). Perceived privacy and safety-security risks are discussed as key issues that affect the tourists’ level of trust in the technology, which influences perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitudes, and behavioural intention. The study involved collecting data scientifically from 427 tourists to validate the proposed hypotheses using structural equation modelling. All the hypotheses were supported. This work provides a hierarchical model that highlights the intermediary role of trust contingent on perceived safety and security risk and perceived privacy risk, as well as that of ease of use, usefulness, and attitudes as a pathway for shaping the behavioural intention for IoT-enabled technologies at a smart destination. The findings can help develop smart tourism solutions optimized for IoT devices to enthuse trust and in turn, make visitor experiences rewarding.KEYWORDS: Smart tourisminternet-of-thingstrustriskstructural equation modelling Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).Notes1 https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2020/09/24//The-global-smart-cities-market-size2 https://smartcities.gov.in3 While there are multiple mediation routes possible connecting the antecedents (PSSR and PPR) with consequents (PEU, PU, Attitude and BI) in the model, the authors have considered the longest serial paths in the model to ensure richness in the findings. Further, the serial mediation model simultaneously checks all intermediate mediation paths (Yang et al., Citation2022).4 These visitors were staying at a specific hotel in Indore, the home base of one of the authors. The interviews were arranged by a travel agency that also helped the authors in the main data collection.5 The maximum number allowed as per the agency’s policy." @default.
