- W4386002881 abstract "Endometriosis, an inflammatory-hormonal chronic disease, has a strong impact on women's quality of life, and fertility; however, after decades of intensive investigation, the complex events underlying its development and progression remain elusive, and no specific and curative treatment is available yet. Recently, new evidence started to shed light to a biological system that might be related to endometriosis pathophysiology and that, so far, was outside our attention: the hemostasis system. This system works in a balanced way with inflammation, being their interaction so strict and complex that it is predictable that a disturbance in one contributes significantly to several alterations in the other. The link between hemostasis and inflammation is characteristic of some chronic inflammatory diseases, suggesting its possible role also in the development, and/or symptoms of endometriosis. In women with endometriosis, although hemostasis parameters seem to remain in the normal reference ranges, subtle alterations of the hemostasis profile were described. In this overview we discussed the current findings supporting the idea that women with endometriosis might be characterized by hemostasis disturbance and that these alterations may become evident if accurately evaluated." @default.
