- W4386159394 abstract "Ferrite and nanocrystalline alloys are the primary magnetic materials of choice for medium and high frequency transformers because of their optimal combination of loss and saturation flux density over a wide frequency range. This paper investigates the advantages and disadvantages of both material options through two approaches. The first approach is the illustration of FEA modeling, considering the advantages and disadvantages of both ferrite and nanocrystalline cores. Leakage loss investigation for more electrically conductive nanocrystalline-based cores compared to ferrite cores, has been validated analytically and numerically in this approach. The second approach pursues design comparisons via a trade study based on analytical models chosen to show the contrasting details at the component level. This paper seeks to provide insights on core selection at different operating frequencies with an emphasis on ensuring acceptable temperature rise." @default.
