- W4386191502 abstract "Research has shown that students with disabilities are more likely to maintain a lower social participation status than their peers. One aspect of social participation is the social relationships between these students and their peers. This study examined the friendship and hang out networks of students with and without disabilities in a highly diverse middle school in Southern California. Results indicated that students with disabilities were significantly less nominated as friends and significantly less nominated as hang out partners. Further regression analyses examined the students’ friendship and hang out networks. For both, the hang out and friendship in-degrees, results supported the hypothesis that students with disabilities have exhibited lower social participation compared to their peers." @default.
