- W4386291569 abstract "This chapter highlights the importance of intergovernmental coordination, political support, and financial resources in achieving sustainable urban development and the SDGs. The chapter focuses on the challenges of monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at national and local levels, using Jundiaí as a case study. During the last federal administration, there was no public policy aimed at organizing transfer processes to subnational levels, leading to fragmentation and duplication of initiatives in terms of SDG implementation methods and priorities. Despite the lack of federal support, there were efforts made to promote intersectoriality and forms of horizontal cooperation, resulting in an improvement in the city's performance in rankings related to sustainable development. Jundiaí's fiscal situation allowed for significant investments in urban development policies focused on priority populations and certain territories. Notably, the planning team directed their actions toward early childhood and the Novo Horizonte region. This choice resulted in Jundiaí ranking second in the Index of Sustainable Development of Cities and being the first to implement a neighborhood plan formalized by law aligned with the SDGs." @default.
