- W4386382150 abstract "Climate change poses significant threats to both the abiotic and biotic components of the environment as well as economic growth and social well-being, especially in developing countries. Community-based initiatives are emerging as promising ways to mitigate the impacts of climate change while also empowering people and strengthening community resilience. Communities from different parts of the world have taken strategic measures depending on traditional wisdom and available resources. Such as, climate-vulnerable communities in South Asia are constructing physical infrastructure using local and indigenous techniques to prevent flooding, reduce saltwater intrusion into crop fields, and control erosion. On the other hand, communities of Bangladesh use bamboo-based structures to prevent river bank erosion. Other successful examples of adaptive infrastructure in coastal areas include multipurpose cyclone protection in Bangladesh and Odisha, India. While many community-based organizations work to restore degraded ecosystems, some community-based actions include protecting lakes, rivers, and forests from climate change. Nature-based Solutions (NbS), community preparedness and participation, along with the combination of advanced technology, indigenous knowledge, and insurance support, can ensure better community resilience." @default.
