- W4386401045 abstract "Agricultural chemicals denote numerous chemical products that are used in agriculture to enhance yield. They include; insecticides, fungicides, pesticides, herbicides, and nematicides. Pesticide products are formulated and sold containing combinations of one or more dynamic constituents and several lethargic ingredients, otherwise called carriers. These active constituents control the pests. The inert ingredients or carriers help in the solubility, dispersion, and stability of the product during application. Agricultural pollution occurs as a result of the biotic and abiotic waste products of agriculture that pollute and degrade the environment and surrounding ecosystem, as well as harm human beings and their economic interests. Agrochemicals are designed to eliminate weeds, insects/pests, disease pathogens, etc., but will also harm or kill desirable plants if applied directly onto them. In addition to killing non-target and useful plants, exposure of plants to herbicides can cause sub-lethal effects on them, pesticides inhibit or kill soil organisms and exposure to humans can cause some conditions such as diarrhea, nausea, blindness, rashes, blisters, skin irritation, and death in the short term. The use of biological alternatives in pest management such as biopesticides, plant and microbial-based products (plant-incorporated protectants-PIPs, mycorrhizal fungi and plant growth-promoting bacteria, as well as transgenic herbicide-resistant plants, provide better and more environmentally sociable replacements to chemical pesticides, while reducing soil pollution and contagion and without affecting soil microbial communities." @default.
