- W4386445239 abstract "Is it feasible for midwives to conduct a Cervical Screening Test (CST) at a 6-week postnatal comprehensive health check? A survey, as one component of a mixed-methods feasibility study. Midwives underwent training in how to conduct a CST with Family Planning Australia (FPA) and then were advised to commence conducting CSTs with women who attended for their 6-week postnatal comprehensive health check. After 3 months of CST collection, the midwives were surveyed. Seven midwives at a Level 4 maternity hospital in Sydney, Australia. Outcome measures: The survey collected data about the extent of uptake of the new process of CST collection, barriers and facilitators to that uptake, and the midwives’ views about the new process. This study demonstrated women want to have their 6-week CST collected by their midwife and that midwives are able to collect them successfully. This study demonstrated that the training prepared the midwives well for this role with respect to both knowledge and confidence. My presentation will illustrate the responses from midwives in a summary of descriptive statistics in graphic format. It is feasible for midwives to conduct CST at the 6-week postnatal appointment. Further research will involve resurveying the participants at 6 months and to conduct a focus group to gain further insights." @default.
