- W4386450107 abstract "Due to the complexity and large scale of Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs), it is challenging to design a routing protocol that can sense hop-by-hop channel quality and guarantee reliable end-to-end communication. Routing design should ensure reliability under harsh channel conditions while also minimizing latency and balancing energy. Existing protocols only consider the impact of channel quality on single-hop communication and select the best forwarder hop by hop, ignoring its impact on the entire path, which may not result in an optimal routing path in large-scale networks. In this paper, we propose an adaptive channel-aware underwater routing protocol called ACARP to address the above challenges. In ACARP, we specifically design a layered Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) for UWSNs with an iterative pheromone distribution mechanism and a Target Potential Field (TPF). In each layer, TPF generates candidate rewards by obtaining single-hop channel quality, distance, and energy information, then combines the candidate pheromones to select the best relay. ACO’s mechanism distributes pheromones on the path to measure its quality. Simulation results show that our routing protocol outperforms other schemes in terms of reliability, energy, and delay in large-scale UWSNs." @default.
