- W4386574558 abstract "Myocardial strain imaging (MSI) has proved to be an effective means of evaluating myocardial function using cardiac ultrasound, specifically speckle-tracking echocardiography. This unique noninvasive technique is remarkably effective for detecting subtle changes in cardiac function. 1 Lotti R DE Marzo V Della Bona R Porto I Rosa GM Speckle-tracking echocardiography: state of art and its applications. LV GLS may be used to assess LV ischemia and viability, evaluate LV dysfunction in patients with heart failure with preserved EF, detect early reduction in LV function in patients who underwent cardiotoxic chemotherapy, and diagnose subclinical LV dysfunction in patients with cardiomyopathy. As variability exists between strain measurements obtained by different vendor equipment and software programs, and ongoing research continues to define useful guidelines for clinical application, validation and standardization of data obtained by MSI continues to evolve. 9 Nagueh SF Smiseth OA Appleton CP Byrd 3rd, BF Dokainish H Edvardsen T Flachskampf FA Gillebert TC Klein AL Lancellotti P Marino P Oh JK Popescu BA Waggoner AD Recommendations for the evaluation of left ventricular diastolic function by echocardiography: an update from the American Society of Echocardiography and the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging.
