- W4386611025 abstract "Techniques such as electrophoretic deposition, plasma or thermal spraying, chemical vapor deposition, pulsed laser deposition, and sol–gel have been used to deposit calcium phosphate onto titanium alloys such as Ti-6Al-4V. However, each of these deposition techniques has its own benefits and drawbacks that prevent them from being the ideal coating system. The primary technique used today for the deposition of calcium phosphate-based coatings on dental and medical implants and prostheses is plasma or thermal spraying. In contrast, nanocoatings produced using sol–gel have been shown to display increased osseointegration and mechanical properties due to nanocrystalline grain structure. Various sol–gel routes have been employed for the production of synthetic calcium phosphate nanocoatings since the early 1990s. Changes in both the technique and chemistry have enabled this approach to produce a variety of nanocoatings with the highest homogeneity and purity." @default.
