- W4386657246 abstract "The earth holds about a trillion species of microorganisms, of which a single human body is a host to a vast number of them. Microorganisms are beneficial in oxygen production, organic material decomposition, providing nutrients to plants, and maintaining human health. Microorganisms can also be pathogenic and lead to various diseases in plants and animals, resulting in a worldwide socioeconomical loss. The government, scientific community, and various other agencies are always looking for better alternatives to address environmental crises. The microorganism can play a potent role in ecofriendly waste management and environmental safety. Some characteristic features of microbes such as rapid growth, easy handling, the scope for genetic manipulations, and their ability to synthesize various enzymes that catalyze the degradation of organic and inorganic matter. These unique properties enable biological approaches to efficiently treat waste from industrial, municipal, agricultural, biomedical, and radioactive sources. Keratinaceous byproducts are being produced from agricultural and industrial wastes throughout the world and microbial degradation is one of the best ecofriendly ways to deal with it. Microbial electrolysis cells are also beneficial in converting organic waste from water to renewable energy. Indigenous Microorganisms based technology is also useful in waste management. Hence, microorganisms can act as an essential tool for a safer environment and the release of a minimal amount of waste." @default.
