Compared with conventional aircraft, distributed propulsion with electric motors is expected to increase the efficiency of the propulsion systems for the above purpose. Furthermore, the application of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) – gas turbine (GT) hybrid systems to their electric power sources is promising for higher efficiency. We have thus developed a three-dimensional numerical model of a planar SOFC pressurized for the combination with a GT for the optimal design and operation of practical cells. A software package with the finite element method (COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4) is employed to analyze the current and temperature distributions in a cell. Exchange current densities under pressurized conditions are experimentally evaluated using a symmetric test cell for the electrochemical kinetics in the model." @default.
