- W4386952578 abstract "To measure power quality on HVDC links, transmission system operators use novel, gas-insulated RC divider consisting of PCBs with SMD components. Therefore, this study presents a planar circuit model in Ltspice for a 100 kV and 500 kV divider and calculates the transfer function as well as the 3dB-bandwidth. Both models are based on linear upscaling of a 10 kV model from former studies. Besides, this study displays the high voltage (HV) unit’s electrical field in the hotspot, its simulation model in COMSOL, and it introduces a theoretical estimation of the necessary pressure of the insulation gas. Furthermore, the 100 kV circuit model shows good agreement with measurement data and analytical calculations. Thus, this study confirms the linear behaviour of the model’s components so that for a chosen nominal voltage the divider’s components are easy to assess. Moreover, the planar models provide insight into parasitic components influencing the 3dB-bandwidth of both dividers’, and show that the low voltage (LV) unit limits the 100 kV divider’s 3dB-bandwidth to 1.94 MHz and the 500 kV divider’s to 933.9 kHz. However, the 3dB-bandwidths and partial discharge (PD) measurement on the 100 kV divider show that with a mean PD level of 1.09 pC for 1. 2U <inf xmlns:mml=http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML xmlns:xlink=http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink>N</inf> | <inf xmlns:mml=http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML xmlns:xlink=http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink>AC</inf> , the divider is applicable for power quality measurement on HVDC links." @default.
