- W4386962022 abstract "Focuses on the environmental crisis and political responses to it in order to discuss Arendt’s views on nature and planet earth and link them to education and political subjectivity. While her appreciation of the natural world as the material basis of the human condition has been increasingly of interest, her Aristotelian notion of a child as a not-yet-subject and her reflections about the role of education are being critically discussed in both educational and political contexts. These debates are an invitation to rethinking the Arendtian notion of political subjectivity from new theoretical and practical perspectives. We start by recalling Arendt’s description of planet earth in The Human Condition, discussed through the concept of the Anthropocene. When then discuss thinking and judging in education to negotiate the political subjectivity of youth, with special attention to Fridays for Future, and especially its initiator Greta Thunberg, as an example of political action reacting to a situation of crisis." @default.
