- W4387042650 abstract "The large-scale integration of renewable energy into the power grid leads to the decrease of the voltage support strength, and small signal stability issues may occur in weak grid. The grid-forming (GFM) converters can provide voltage support for the grid, and it is plausible to integrate a certain amount of GFM converters in each wind farm to increase the small signal stability margin of a multi-wind-farm system. However, it still remains unclear how to estimate the required proportion of GFM converters in the wind farm to reach a desired small signal stability margin. Therefore, from the perspective of grid strength, this paper analyzes the effect of the capacity of GFM converters on the small signal stability of a multi-wind-farm system. On this basis, a capacity estimation method of GFM converters is proposed and the typical values of the proportions of GFM converters in the wind farm is derived for engineering practice. The analysis is validated using high-fidelity simulations." @default.
