- W4387055393 abstract "The gold standard for clinical gait analysis is marker-based 3D motion capture. However, markerless systems, which use artificial intelligence and deep learning algorithms, have seen rapid growth. PURPOSE: To determine the test-retest reliability of gait using markerless motion capture technology. METHODS: Thirty-four healthy adults (age 28.2 ± 10.1 years; height 168.3 ± 7.6 cm; mass 73.5 ± 15.9 kg) volunteered to participate. They were instructed to walk along a walkway at a self-selected comfortable pace and a maximum pace. A minimum of three trials were completed for both speed conditions on two different days (1 week apart) in self-selected clothing. Reliability was determined with intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC3,1) and standard error of measurement (SEM). Statistical differences between session and speed were determined with 2x2 analysis of variance (p < 0.05). RESULTS: Figure 1 includes the reliability of the range of motion (ROM) of each joint throughout the gait cycle. SEM was 3 degrees or lower for each variable (Table 1). Peak knee flexion during the initial stance phase of gait had the highest reliability for both comfortable (session 1: -21 ± 4.7, session 2: -20.8° ± 4.5°, ICC = 0.884 [95CI: 0.781, 0.94]) and maximum speed conditions (session 1: -25.1° ± 5.2°, session 2: -24.8° ± 4.7°, ICC = 0.883 [95CI: 0.779, 0.94]) and exhibited a main effect of speed (p < 0.001). Hip sagittal, hip frontal, knee sagittal, and ankle transverse plane ROM variables were significantly different between gait speeds (Figure 1, p < 0.05). The only ROM variable that was significantly different between sessions was the frontal plane ankle (p = 0.018). DISCUSSION: The magnitude of reliability varied across joints and planes for ROM variables during gait. Participants wore their own footwear and clothing for each session. The effects of both should be further explored as certain variables (e.g. foot inversion/eversion) appear to be sensitive to potentially subtle differences ." @default.
