• W4387062811 abstract "PURPOSE: This study investigates the effects of physical activity (PA) on blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV), ankle-brachial index (ABI) and Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) in people of different ages, to clarify the relationship between physical activity level and vascular function. To provide new strategies for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. METHODS: A total of 626 healthy adults aged 30-85 years without serious cardiovascular, pulmonary or metabolic diseases were studied. The subjects were divided into a youth group (Y): 30-45 years, a middle-aged group (M): 46-60 years and an elderly group (O): 61-85 years. The international physical activity question (IPAQ) was used to measure their total physical activity (PA). BP, HR, PWV, ABI, and CIMT were measured in fasting, the quiet state in each group. one-way ANOVA and Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the data results. RESULTS: 1. Age was significantly and positively correlated with BP, PWV, ABI, and CIMT (P < 0.01). 2. SBP, PWV, and CIMT were significantly higher in group M than in group Y (P < 0.05). 3. PWV and CIMT were significantly higher in group O than in group Y, and the difference was significant (P < 0.05). 4. There was no significant correlation between physical activity and all vascular function indicators (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: 1. Vascular function in adults decreases with age. 2. The differences in all vascular function indicators between physical activity levels are not significant.
