- W4387192722 abstract "Since thyristors cannot be controlled to turn off, conventional LCC-HVDC systems based on thyristors usually have the risk of commutation failure, which may have a serious impact on the safe and stable operation of the grid. IGCT, as a fully controlled switching device, can effectively suppress commutation failure and has become a popular solution for building novel HVDC systems. To study the influence of replacing thyristors with IGCTs on the stability of HVDC system, this paper constructs a thyristor-based LCC-HVDC model and an IGCT-based HVDC model on CloudPSS platform, and performs the analysis in time-frequency domain. The correctness of the models and the effectiveness of IGCT in suppressing commutation failure are verified by time domain simulation results. An efficient frequency domain impedance characteristic analysis method is also proposed. The comparison of frequency domain characteristics shows that the impedance characteristics of LCC-HVDC and IGCT-based HVDC are the same below 50 Hz and above 100 Hz, concluding that the replacement of thyristors with IGCTs has less impact on the stability of the system." @default.
