- W4387195773 abstract "This chapter emphasizes the importance of the learning environment for successful learning and academic achievement, as it is for the working environment. Supportive learning environment advocates believe that students’ learning moments, whether good or bad, won’t be forgotten and are imprinted in their future behavior and practice. Therefore, this aspect of curriculum development requires more attention and efforts to substantiate its effect on teaching and learning outcomes in health professions education. Our goal is to create a supportive learning environment where learners interact actively with the curriculum, teachers, and patients in complex real-life problems. Strategies to achieve this goal include six objectives (initiatives). The first initiative, is to support and foster mentorship programs. Second, to introduce real-life examples and interactions with healthcare system in high school and preparatory programs. Third, to develop and provide learning resources to support real-life experiences. Fourth, to develop students’ surveys to gauge their interests. Fifth, to set standards and develop guidelines for curriculum development in support of this objective. Sixth initiative, is to identify and promote student projects that are collaborative across health sciences colleges." @default.
