- W4387203460 abstract "The interrelationship among mycotoxigenic fungi, mycotoxin control, and biological control agents (BCAs) are discussed in this chapter. BCAs are typically tested for their ability to control the growth of fungi and disease symptoms. However, a different strategy as well as concentration are required for mycotoxin control. Unlike traditional fungal plant diseases, the method of action and inoculum dose required to limit the synthesis of toxins by Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Fusarium species may differ. The control of important stages throughout the development of toxigenic fungus is taken into consideration in addition to the methods of action, relative inoculum potential, and effects of interacting environmental factors. Mycotoxins in crops, both pre- and post-harvest, have been managed by biocontrol using microbial antagonists, either individually or as part of a comprehensive control strategy to decrease pesticide applications. This chapter consolidates potential biocontrol with the help of yeasts, bacteria, and various fungi, their excretions, the activity of ruminal deterioration, preharvest biological control by competitive exclusion or biochemical, along with the postharvest biological agent-based technologies and practices presently used to mitigate the toxic effects of aflatoxins. The best strategy to immediately lower the contamination of aflatoxins is through preharvest biocontrol methods. These methods can assist us in strictly reducing aflatoxin infestation without synthetic chemicals when used in conjunction with the postharvest treatments of bacterial or fungal cultures. On an industrial scale, the most effective interventions can be adopted and combined to avoid losses, boost crop yields, and improve agriculture sustainability while also enhancing food and feed security." @default.
