- W4387260054 abstract "To study the tridimensional characteristics of the anatomy of the human uterine cervix, its fibers distribution, in microscopic scale, using microtomography After surgical removal for treatment of gynecological benign conditions, 13 human uterine cervices were immersed in iodine and formol solution (10% each) for 72 hours. The cervices were analysed using the VtomeX (GE industries, Austria), and the images analysed using Bruker micro- CT (version 1.16; Konich, Belgium), 3D slicer (Birminghan, UK) and Avizo (Thermo – Fischer, MA, USA). The images of the specimen were successfully acquired. The cervix demonstrates the anatomical relation between the glandular and the cervical stroma. The orientation distribution demonstrates the direction of the cervical fibers following the cervical lumen, and with focal concentration of perpendicular fibers in the internal and external OS. In a case of cervical polyp, the origin of the polyp could be visualised, as the natural architecture of the disease and its relationship with the cervical glands. The tridimensional anatomy of the cervix could be properly studied with the microtomography, with the 3D reconstruction of the orientation of the fibers, with marked change of the fibers direction on the internal OS and external OS.
