- W4387260079 abstract "Cardiac rhabdomyomas (CR) appear on prenatal ultrasound as round, homogeneous, hyperechogenic masses in the cavity walls, with single or multiple presentations. They represent up to 70% of benign cardiac tumours and usually have spontaneous remission in postnatal life. This finding should be closely followed up, because of the risk of fetal arrhythmia and hydrops. In addition, studies should be performed to rule out tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) with a strong association. A 41-year-old patient with a dichorionic diamniotic twin pregnancy who in week 33 presented in one of the twins: four homogeneous, regular, ovoid, non-vascularised, mobile echogenic images, between 7 and 10 mm in greatest diameter, compatible with cardiac rhabdomyomas, located as follows: one in the wall of the atrium, two in the right ventricle: in the free and apical wall respectively, and one in the apical wall of the left ventricle. Were assessed in 2D Rhythm, correlation of cardiac structures and size. To assess the degree of mitral valve obstruction cine loop, video and 4D-stic (spatial temporal image correlation), a facial view was performed to evaluate the mitral valve in the axial plane and a percentage of occupancy of 60% was found, which did not compromise the hemodynamic status of the patient. In the evaluation of the central nervous system, no cortical hamartomas or ependymal nodules were found in the sagittal planes. Postnatally, an exome study of the TSC, brain MRI and follow-up by cardiology and neonatology is going to be performed. Cardiac rhabdomyomas should be monitored during prenatal life for the possibility of the adverse fetal events mentioned. Without genetic studies it is not possible to rule out the presence of TSC. Even if no central nervous system lesions are observed as in this case, periodic follow-up should be performed to document when they appear and thus prevent neurological manifestations in childhood or in adulthood if the TSC is confirmed." @default.
