- W4387260520 abstract "Cervical polyps during pregnancy may be associated with abortion and preterm delivery. We analysed the transvaginal ultrasonographic diagnostics of cervical polyps during pregnancy using B-mode, colour Doppler (CD) and superb microvascular imaging (SMI). The patients were 12 pregnant women pathologically diagnosed with a cervical polyp visible by speculum examination in the first trimester. Transvaginal ultrasonography was performed at 9 to 22 weeks of gestation before resection. Five and 7 patients had endocervical (EC) and decidual (D) polyps, respectively. EC or D polyps were ultrasonographically diagnosed based on whether the stem of the polyp or linear Doppler signals running in the canal were visible within or beyond the internal end of cervical gland area (figure 1). The ultrasonographic diagnostic accuracy was retrospectively analysed. CD and SMI demonstrated multiple linear Doppler signals running parallel in the cervical canal, implying a feeding artery and vein of the polyp. The diagnostic accuracy was 66.7% (8/12), 66.7% (8/12), and 83.3% (10/12) in B-mode, CD, and SMI alone, respectively. In B-mode, 4 EC polyps were overdiagnosed. In CD and SMI, 2 and 1 EC polyp and 2 and 1 D polyp were undiagnosed, respectively. Pathological diagnosis of cervical polyp during pregnancy can be best replaced using transvaginal ultrasonography, if not complete, in combination of B-mode and SMI.
