The chapter offers a fresh perspective on Tanpınar's work by placing it in the context of contemporary discourse on memory, the past, and temporal experience. It also considers the author's place within comparative modernism and world literature, revamping Tanpınar studies by drawing on the idea of the ruins of modernity. The chapter explores Tanpınar's questioning of modern illusions and cultural myths of progress, tradition, and the past, using Benjamin's account of nineteenth-century Paris as a starting point. Overall, the chapter offers a valuable contribution to the understanding of Tanpınar's work and its place within the broader discourse on modernism and world literature." @default.
