- W4387386025 abstract "Helium lubricated bearings are widely used in cryogenic turbomachinery. This oil-free lubrication method not only facilitates the increase of the design speed of the helium turbine, but also avoids oil pollution in the cryogenic system. In this paper, the performance analysis of the radial helium bearing for cryogenic turbine is carried out. Using the finite element method, the Reynolds equation is discretized in the bearing computational domain, and the pressure distribution of the gas film is obtained. Based on the solved pressure distribution, performance parameters such as bearing load capacity, stiffness, friction coefficient, and gas flow can be calculated separately. The results indicate that under the same supply pressure, the double row orifices bearing shows certain advantages in load capacity and stiffness than the single row orifices bearing. However, the gas consumption of the double row orifices bearing also increases significantly. Considering that the gas consumption is still within the acceptable range, the cryogenic turbine can be recommended to use double row orifices hydrostatic gas bearings." @default.
