Biomedical technology targets for improvement of malfunctioning genes accountable for disease via gene-therapy. Gene-therapy employs nucleic acids as functional therapeutic agents for biological treatment of a wide variety of diseases. Delivery of nucleic acids is a highly studied approach for the cure of various ailments, and its accomplishment entirely relies on delivery. Although, there is growing need for a safe, effective, non-pathogenic means for nucleic acid delivery. Several types of delivery system exist, such as viral, non-viral, and combined-hybrid deliver system. Non-viral nucleic acid delivery system is two categories, physical and chemical non-viral delivery system. Physical methods refer to the introduction of nucleic acid by application of the physical force. Chemical methods utilize natural or synthetic carriers for delivery of nucleic acid into cells. The current chapter will put an emphasis on an in-depth insight on ways of non-viral nucleic acid delivery systems, its advantages and disadvantages, how it exhibits low immunogenicity, and its use in current biomedical technology." @default.
