- W4387569908 abstract "Endothelial dysfunction is a hallmark of multiple cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular diseases. However, there are no widely available, efficient methods to use in clinical settings to diagnose endothelial function or to monitor endothelial response to therapy of various diseases that require endothelial-guided therapy. The phenotype of endothelial dysfunction could be diagnosed based on a panel of well-selected endothelial biomarkers, reflecting various pathophysiologically relevant mechanisms of altered endothelial function. Given the dynamic development of aptamers as diagnostic tools, electrochemical aptasensors may now be considered a method of choice for multi-biomarker–based diagnosis of endothelial dysfunction. Considering that multiplex electrochemical aptasensing for cardiac biomarkers based on multi-label and multi-electrode strategies is emerging, we critically review challenges in the advancement of such aptasensor technology based on available examples of electrochemical aptasensors for the detection of multiple cardiac biomarkers that have been described in the last decade. We attempted to predict whether a similar electrochemical aptasensor platform could be used for multi-biomarker–based diagnosis of endothelial dysfunction via point-of-care testing (POCT) using portable diagnostic devices." @default.
