- W4387622911 abstract "Nanotechnology has stood out as one of the most studied areas within science and technology worldwide. The use and application of nanoparticles have increased in several applications, such as agriculture, medicine, energy, and electronics. The synthesis of nanoparticles evolves physical, chemical, and more recently, biological methods. Given the environmental concern, bacteria-mediated synthesis, also known as biogenic synthesis, demonstrates several advantages over physical and chemical routes. In addition to being environmentally friendly, it may also promote an organic capping, which may confer the nanoparticle improved stability, biocompatibility, and antibacterial activity, among other functionalities. In nanomedicine, the development of antibacterial strategies demonstrates promising advances in the fields of resistant bacteria, wound healing, and antibiofilm action in medical devices, for example, stents, implants, or catheters. In this chapter, we aim to overview bacteria-mediated synthesis well established in the literature and compare it to recent advances, correlating with the potential application of the biogenically synthesized nanoparticles against bacteria and in the promotion of wound healing." @default.
