- W4387625239 abstract "The article discusses the characteristics of an ideal diplomat and focuses on the analysis of thewritings of Krzysztof Warszewicki, the so-called Polish Machiavelli. Warszewicki, a politicalwriter and member of parliament, the author of one of the most important diplomatictreatises, had the opportunity to get acquainted with the representative works of Europeanhumanism, which allowed him to look at the affairs of his country from a perspective broaderthan his contemporaries. He uses clear references to Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli in hisworks, to whom, as a Jesuit, he had access through Latin sources (the work of the Florentinesecretary was included in the church's index of forbidden books). The influence of the workof the Italian author is visible primarily in the analysis of the features of an ideal diplomat, playing a key role in ensuring the security and stability of the state. Warszewicki criticizesthe contemporary situation of his own country, neglecting foreign policy, and thus ignoringdiplomacy. As a supporter of absolute monarchy and strengthening the position of the king,he postulates limiting the privileges of the nobility, which, in his opinion, would lead to thecollapse of the Polish state." @default.
