- W4387631857 abstract "Laboratory-made functional materials are one of the successful achievements in materials science. As they provide excellent functionalization to carry out on-demand tasks and programmable surface chemistry, they have been the hot topics of many scientists to work on. Recently, nanomotors have attracted huge interest with their movement mechanisms. This movement property separates nanomotor structures from other fascinating nanomaterials/micromaterials. By doing so, they have a controllable movement that provides targeted transportation to specific environments. Hence, many diverse applications of nanomotors have been demonstrated, such as diagnostics, (bio)sensing, therapy, imaging, environmental monitoring, security, and defense. Among the superior applications, the ones in the field of biomedicine, including diagnosis, therapy, and isolation, have taken a long way to surpass in vivo challenges. With the guidance of the functionalized nanomachines to target sites, precise, harmless, and effectual biomedical explorations have come out. Cell-based transportation is a prominent throughput. In this chapter, we focus on the nanomotor applications that take cell-based transportation of (bio)molecules or therapeutic agents into account. These applications mainly serve for diagnostics, (bio)sensing, therapy, and imaging. The mechanism under the interaction and delivery are discussed in detail. Additionally, the propulsion mechanism of the nanomotors and their synthesis protocols are mentioned to show the importance of goal-oriented nanofabrication. The challenges in transportation and also future prospects of these man-made controlled movable nanostructures are mentioned." @default.
