- W4387680215 abstract "The control of culture and education exercised by the last military dictatorship government in Argentina (1976–1983) had a direct impact on psychology professional training. A key instrument of this control, carried out in a framework of persecution of teachers and students, was author and book censorship, together with a permanent surveillance of course materials, which included Piaget’s work. Our study analyzes the different readings of Piaget’s work developed in Argentina between the 1950s and 1980s and focuses on the difficulties some of them faced during the dictatorship. In relation to the censorship, possible explanations are proposed that contribute to a better understanding of the surveillance exercised on the author’s work. Among the possible reasons for the suspicion was a shift that was taking place within the understanding of his work in the psychological and educational field. These new readings were strongly articulated with new professional practices that encouraged social transformation and considered them part of their professional role. Another source of mistrust about his work relied on the notion of a curious, active subject, while conservative sectors of the dictatorship’s government promoted a transcendent moral subject." @default.
