- W45471346 abstract "A good deal of postmodern theology and philosophy of religion has accepted Heidegger of metaphysics as ontotheology and has sought to respond to respond to the in a variety of ways. The following essay proposes that, though Heidegger points to a true danger for thinking in his critique, the terms in which he frames that ought not to be accepted, because they generate problems of their own. To show this, the essay presents a 'counter critique from Hegel, whom Heidegger takes to be the paradigmatic ontotheologian, and then goes on to show how the inadequacies in the positions of both Heidegger and Hegel rest on the same assumption concerning the nature of reason. It concludes by sketching a dramatic conception of reason that gives priority, not to reason's conditions of possibility, but to God's creative initiative." @default.
